Trio in possession of drugs worth Rs 10 lakh held in city
A special team led by Mylapore Deputy Commissioner Shashank Sai arrested three persons in possession of synthetic drugs worth Rs 10 lakh on Monday. The team are now searching for the kingpin of the network.

The team seized 370 gram ketamine, 87 LSD stamps, 11 gram of charas (hashish) and 33 gram of MDMA (ecstasy) from the accused identified as M Mohammed Anis (30) of Chepauk, S Sheik Mohammed Madhar (27) of Royapettah and M Mohammed Samir Ahmed (20). Three mobile phones and two hand-held weighing machines were also seized from them. Based on a tip-off, the trio was secured from a house on RV Pillai street. Investigation revealed that the trio had received the drugs from one Thamimun Ansari of Ilayankudi to sell them in the city. The network used parcel service to bring the drugs to Chennai, officials said. “Thamimun Ansari is the mastermind behind the network and already has cases pending against him in Narcotics Intelligence Bureau CID,” said an officer. While the trio was remanded in judicial custody, a hunt has been launched for Thamimun Ansari.
Meanwhile, Taramani police arrested four persons in possession of 16.5 kg ganja and seized three two-wheelers from them.Based on a tip-off, police raided a house on Aranganal Street and found out that the place was used to pack ganja in small quantities after smuggling the contraband from Andhra Pradesh.
