Additional Superintendent Sundaravathanam said that the hotel staff should not entertain guests with fever symptoms and the temperature must be checked at the reception area itself. “The guests should not be allowed to visit the beaches or to bathe in the sea. Also, the swimming pools in the resorts must be kept dry,” he said. In the restaurants, chairs must be placed at least one metre apart, he added.

The owners were asked not to allow any big parties, entertainment shows. “If any guests showed fever symptoms, health officials must be immediately alerted. The health officials must have been stored in the office computers,” he said.

It may be recalled that the tourism business in Mamallapuram suffered a huge hit due to the prolonged lockdown for five months and historical monuments were closed for visitors.
