Pallikaranai police nab peddlers delivering ganja at doorstep
Six youth, who operated a peddling network in the city suburbs delivering ganja at doorsteps based on orders received through WhatsApp, were arrested by the police on Friday.

The arrested persons were identified as Dilip (25) and Kumaran (20) of Keelkatalai, Jesintha Kumar (20), Sanjai Barath (19) and Thirumurugan (25) of Old Pallavaram, and Shane Mohamed (27) of Kovilambakkam. The police seized 2.5 kg of ganja, 25,000 cash, a car and four bikes from them.
The Pallikaranai police was on alert after receiving tipoff about ganja peddling in Kovilambakkam. A patrol team from the station spotted two men who were sitting in a car that remained stationary for a long time. Growing suspicious, the personnel questioned the duo, later identified as Dilip and Kumaran.
As their replies were evasive, the team checked the vehicle and found ganja hidden inside. Following this, both of them were taken to the station. Based on the information they provided during questioning, the police arrested the other four part of the network. Explaining their modus operandi, officials said the gang would receive orders through WhatsApp and would deliver the narcotic at the doorstep within 30 minutes to one hour. All of them were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
