Entrepreneur’s Tamil audio books draw attention

Being a huge Potter fan, she was hesitant to listen to the audio version of it. But after listening to the beautiful narration, she was mind blown. Deepika started browsing for Tamil audiobooks. But to her dismay, she couldn’t find any good ones that had a good voice modulation. “Stephen has given different voices to each Harry Potter character and I discovered the joy of audiobooks when I was listening to it. Like that, I couldn’t find any quality Tamil audio narration. Most of the audiobooks in Tamil had some sort of background disturbances. Since I love storytelling, I thought of giving it a try. I initiated a venture called Kadhai Osai where I narrate stories and novels in Tamil,” says Deepika.

 She started with authors whose books are copyright-free, like Amarar Kalki, La Sa Ra, Puthumaipithan and others. “Since there will be a copyright issue, I decided to go with copyright-free books. I have done audiobooks of Parthiban Kanavu, Poiman Karadu, Kal Sirikirathu. I am releasing the audios in a podcast format and there is a huge reception for it. There are a lot of people who are passionate about Tamil literature but cannot read Tamil.”

 When the lockdown was announced, Deepika started recording Sivagamiyin Sabatham and is continuing it. “There are more than 200 chapters and I share one chapter a day. I have a number of followers for both epics like this and short stories. I also learned audio editing after launching Kadhai Osai. I am very particular about sound quality, so I make sure there are no background disturbances,” she smiles.
