On Sunday, police on patrol noticed two men giving parcelled packs to a food delivery boy near the TNHB quarters and questioned them. Since all of them gave contradictory replies, police opened the parcels and found ganja in them.
They were identified as K Pugazh Jermain (26) and V Arun (29) of TNHB quarters in Sholinganallur and M Lakshmanan (27) alias Vijay of Thoraipakkam. Police said that Pugazh Jermain and Arun work as team leaders in a popular IT firm and Lakshmanan is a Zomato delivery boy.
Their houses were searched and 10.5 kg ganja and 150 ml hashish (ganja oil), kept in 16 syringes, were seized. Based on their inputs, one Nivodhith (23) of Anna Nagar was also picked up. Investigation revealed that the trio would smuggle ganja in their car from Andhra Pradesh and supplied them through Lakshmanan. “They seem to be doing it for a long time,” said an official. Lakshmanan’s two-wheeler was seized and all four were remanded in judicial custody.
Similarly, Chitlapakkam police arrested three men and seized 3 kg ganja and two bikes from them. The accused were identified as A Alan (25) of Vandalur, K Saranram (25) of Chitlapakkam and Venkatanaga Manoj (27) of Virugambakkam.
