In a press release, through his official twitter handle, the actor has strongly condemned the way the NEET exams are conducted in spite of the pandemic. He criticised the Government which is supposed to provide equal opportunities for all, is rather trying to create an education system with disparities.

Suriya further said while the Court of law and the lawmakers opt for video conferencing, it's pathetic to see them direct the students to attend the exams in person. He criticized the media too, for politicising the unfortunate deaths of the students, who met the tragic end due to the "NEET" fear factor.

He further stated that its heartwrenching to have to condole the families of the victims who should have rather been sent "best wishes".

Suriya further quoted a scenario from the epic Mahabharata, where Ekalaivan had to sacrifice his fingers as a part of Guru Dhakshana, to Dhronar. The modern Dhronas are forcing even the sixth-grade students to appear for exams, to prove their calibre.

The actor's tweet had come at a juncture when the NEET exams were held in over 200 centres across Tamil Nadu on Sunday amid elaborate COVID-19 measures and security while sporadic protests were staged against the exam following alleged suicides of three medical aspirants.
