The deceased was identified as Rajesh of Malaipattu village near Somangalam. He was working at a private tyre factory and also had a few goats and cattle. On Tuesday it was a weekly off for Rajesh and in the morning he took the cattle and goats for grazing in the fields along with his wife and son.
Police said in the evening before returning home Rajesh found a few cattle standing on the 15-ft-high mount of m-sand in a stone quarry nearby. While climbing up to bring them down he came into contact with a live high tension electric wire and died on the spot with severe burns in front of his wife and son.
The onlookers informed the Somangalam police station and police team who arrived at the spot retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem to the Sriperumbudur government hospital. The police have registered a case against quarry owner. Further inquiry is on.
