He has spent the lockdown creating a special hip-hop track that honours the international appeal of music. The song titled 7500 has lyrics in 14 languages, rendered by 12 singers. “The title 7500 denotes the number of hours spent crafting it including music production, singing, recording, engineering, fine-tuning, mixing and so on. The concept behind this song is that music transcends all barriers of language, and becomes a language of its own through which we can form bonds across the world. Collaborating internationally with the 12 singers and the sound engineer who mastered the track, despite the heavy restrictions globally during this time, has been a brilliant experience. The creation process itself truly proves and celebrates the concept,” Ankith says excitedly about the song that will be released on September 16.
The project has set a new record for the title — song composed by an individual in maximum languages — as confirmed by both India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records. The languages featured in the track are English, Arabic, Malayalam, German, Hindi, Bangla, Italian, Kannada, Swedish, Spanish, Tamil, Nepali, Jamaican and Telugu.
“I have been following the works of these 12 artists — VAR!N (English), Almukhtar (Arabic), Swat (Malayalam), Obeka (German), Loud Silence (Hindi & Bangla), Ilon (Italian & Jamaican), Yaaru (Kannada), Filip Winther (Swedish), Young S.C.O (Spanish), King Sinister (Tamil), Lay G (Nepali) and BFAB (Telugu). They are amazing hip hop artists. Instead of making them sing in a common language, I decided to go with their mother tongue. Since all musicians are from different timezones, it was challenging to coordinate with them. The rappers recorded the song at their respective places and then e-mailed it to me,” explains the Class 12 student.
