Fearing parents’ wrath for damaging TV, teen ends life
A 14-year-old boy committed suicide at his house in Kundrathur fearing parents’ anger allegedly after he damaged the TV screen while playing with his sister.

The deceased Brightsham was a Class 9 student of a private school while his father Vadivel is employed in a car manufacturing unit in Irungattukottai. His mother Kavitha is an employee of Andhra Bank. The incident happened on Tuesday when Brightsham and his younger sister were playing at home on Sarojini Street as their parents were away at work. A quarrel broke out between them in which Brightsham allegedly damaged the TV unit.
Fearing that his parents would yell at him, he locked himself in a room and hanged self. Kavitha, who reached home around 3.30 pm, found her daughter sobbing outside the house. She reportedly told her mother that Brightsham locked himself up in the room. They broke open the room and found Brightsham hanging from the ceiling.
On information, Kundrathur police retrieved his body and sent it for postmortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
