The deceased A Inbarasu of Old Seevaram in Chengalpattu was attached to the Armed Reserve wing and was working in the Puzhal prison. According to police, Inbarasu, on Saturday, had visited Chengalpattu for participating in a local cricket tournament in his village. On Sunday, during the tournament, there was a fight between Ibarasu’s team and the opponent team from the same locality.

On Monday morning, when Inbarasu was getting ready to leave for office, he received a phone call from his friends and soon he informed his parents that he is going to meet his friends and from there will go for duty directly. Around 9.30 am when he was travelling on a bike on the Chengalpattu-Kancheepuram road near Walajabad, four men who came on two motorbikes intercepted Inbarasu and attacked him with knives. Police said he tried to flee from the spot but the gang chased and hacked him to death and escaped.

While Paalur police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem, Chengalpattu SP Kannan visited the spot and formed two special teams to nab the murderers. Police sources said Rajan, son of the former president of the Old Seevaram panchayat was the one who involved in the fight with Inbarasu during the tournament and police are searching for Rajan and his friends who are missing.
