AIADMK camp which is now keenly being watched upon, as tensions are cropping up on the selection of Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming elections, has much speculation of the rift between EPS and OPS. Supporters of both camps were seen raising slogans supporting their respective leaders as the next CM candidate.
It all began after the ruling party had convened for an executive committee meeting in the party headquarters, on September 28.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Minister of Forest, Dindugul Sreenivasan went on to say that EPS would be the party's candidate forever. This allegedly added fuel to the burning fire in OPS camp, who left to his constituency immediately.
After meeting his supporters, OPS reportedly returned to Chennai yesterday. Upon his arrival, several TamilNadu ministers thronged OPS residence and had a meeting with him. Though the exact details about the meeting are yet to be revealed, speculations arose that the ministers are trying to pacify both the leaders and find a consensus in the CM candidature.
While minister RB Udhayakumar and Government whip Rajendran were seen arriving at the Chief Minister EPS' official residence in Greenways road, early in the morning, they both left to OPS's residence after the meeting. Few other ministers namely Thangamani, SP Velumani and Jayakumar were also seen accompanying them.
With the official announcement is expected to be made by the party headquarters on October 7th, the internal tussle among the two camps looks unresolved.
