On August 16, new cases (1,196 cases) were reported from 820 streets, which is more than 50 per cent less than the streets with new cases on Thursday.

Also, 200 out of 398 streets are located in the five zones of central Chennai region that comprises Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Ambattur, Anna Nagar, Teynampet and Kodambakkam. North and South Chennai regions have 82 and 112 streets respectively with new cases. Among the zones, Kodambakkam has the highest number of streets with new cases (58).
