Woman constable ends life at in-laws’ house in Tiruvottiyur

A 28-year-old woman constable committed suicide at her in-laws’ house in Tiruvottiyur on Wednesday, where they had come to attend the funeral of her father-in-law.

The deceased Bhagyasree was attached to the Tamil Nadu Special Police fifth battalion and resided in the police quarters in Avadi with her husband Murali, a techie, and two sons aged two and five. Murali’s father who lived in Madhura Nagar in Tiruvottiyur passed away on October 19 and he had been staying with his family for his father’s funeral. On Wednesday morning, Bhagyasree, who went to the first floor of the house, did not step out for a long time and on suspicion, Murali went up and was shocked to see Bhagyasree hanging from the ceiling.

On information, Sathangadu police rushed to the spot and removed her body for post-mortem. Bhagyasree had recorded a video in her phone in which she had reportedly stated that she decided to end her life due to her health issues and that no one was responsible for her death.

Sathangadu police have registered a case and further investigation is on. Police, after inquiring her family members, said that Bhagyasree often complained of back pain and stomach ache.
