The application was filed as the city Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths investigating the complaint were expected to summon the retired officer soon. On Wednesday, Soori had appeared before the investigating officials to explain his case.
Based on a complaint by the actor, the Adyar police had booked a case against Ramesh Kudawala and producer Anbuvel Rajan. Soori said in the complaint that he had purchased 1.83 acres of land in Siruseri for Rs 5.76 crore in a deal believed to have brokered by the film producer and the former DGP. Besides Rs 40 lakh that was due for acting in a movie, the duo convinced him to invest another Rs 2.15 crore, he said, adding that Anbuvel Rajan convinced him that he was the original power agent for the land.
However, he later found out that he was lured into the deal using fabricated documents and also that the property was also not approved to be used for residential purposes as it was claimed by the duo. Realising that he had been cheated, he asked them to return the money.
When they failed to do so, he lodged a complaint with the Adyar police in August. However, there was no response from the police about the complaint, forcing him to approach the metropolitan magistrate court, Saidapet, which directed the city police to register the case.
Terming the allegations as false, the retired officer claimed he had no connection with the case and added that his name was dragged in to tarnish his image. The plea is set to be taken up for hearing next week.
