Deepavali spl bus services to run from Nov 11-13
The State-run transport corporations will operate more than 14,757 special buses from Chennai and other districts in help people reach their natives to celebrate Deepavali.

After reviewing the preparations for operating special buses with senior officials, including Transport Secretary Dharmendra Pratap Yadav and Transport Commissioner S Jawahar at the secretariat on Tuesday, Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar said 9,510 buses, including special buses, would be operated from the city to various parts of the State from November 11 to 13 from five bus termini in the city.
“We will operate 3,510 buses from the city, including 2,000 daily services. From other parts of the State, we will operate 5,247 buses for the three days,” he said.
The Minister added that the MTC would operate a special link buses from Dr MGR bus terminus in Koyambedu to the four bus termini from where the special buses would be operated. The special buses would be operated according to segregated routes from the four termini, including Madhavaram (bound for Uthukottai via Red Hills, Ponneri and Gummidipoondi), KK Nagar (Puducherry via ECR), Tambaram MEPZ (Tindivanam, Vikravandi, Panruti and Kumbakonam), Poonamallee (Kancheepuram, Vellore, Arani, Arcot, Tirupattur and Dharmapuri), and Koyambedu (Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Tiruchy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem and Coimbatore). Special buses would also be operated from the bus terminus located near Tambaram railway station.
For the benefit of the people returning after Deepavali, the transport corporation would operate 16,026 buses to Chennai and other parts of the State for four days.
In a press release, the Transport Department said it would operate 11,416 buses, including 3,416 special buses, for the benefit of commuters arriving from various parts of the State to Chennai and 4,610 special buses to be operated between important destinations.
The Minister added that 13 special advance booking counters would be opened in Koyambedu, Tambaram MEPZ and Poonamallee. Also, a round-the-clock control room for helping passengers in Koyambedu and mobile numbers for complaint, 9445014450 and 9445014436, have been set up. He also said action would be taken against omnibus operators if there were any complaints from passengers about high ticket fares.
