Mofussil buses to operate from 5 terminals in Chennai: Transport Minister

With the onset of the upcoming festival season, the Tamil Nadu government had announced that special buses will be operated for inter district and inter state travel.

Addressing the same, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Minister, MR Vijayabaskar said that 5 terminals have been chosen in the city, from which the Mofussil buses will be operated for the convenience of the passengers.

Accordingly, Koyambedu, KK Nagar, Madhavaram, Tambaram and Poonamallee are the 5 on-boarding terminus chose by the State transport department, though the number of buses operated is comparatively lesser this year, due to the pandemic situation.

Authorities said that, currently, there are 13 booking counters functioning in the city, while nearly 27,000 advance bookings have been registered on the outset of diwali eve.

While nearly 18,544 buses were operated from the city during diwali, this year it has been reduced to 14,757  special buses, which will run from 11th November to 14th November. Also around 16,026 special buses are said to operate from 15th-18th November, for the convenience of returning crowd to the city.
