While scanning the luggage of passengers boarding an Air India flight to Delhi on Saturday morning, security officials found that Selvaraj from Punjab, headmaster of a private school, had an explosive in his bag. After questioning Selvaraj, officials opened the bag and found a 9 mm bullet among his personal effects.
They cancelled Selvaraj's journey and handed him over to the airport police station. During inquiry, Selvaraj claimed he had confiscated the bullet from one of his student’s bag in February. After putting it in his bag, he had forgotten about it and was not aware that the bullet was in his bag, he added. The airport police have informed the Punjab police to verify if Selvaraj was telling the truth, and are also inquiring why he did not inform this to the police in the last eight months. Further further inquiry is on.
