‘Kin left 13-yr-old girl with pimps who took her to 8-10 men daily’

A day after Washermenpet all-women police arrested eight persons, including relatives, for pushing a minor girl into flesh trade, inquiries have revealed shocking details including that the 13-year-old victim was sent with different brokers on a ‘weekly package’ of up to Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh and she was raped by more than 10 men every day.

If it is not shocking enough, the girl, who has been undergoing treatment at Government Stanley Hospital, had no idea what she had been going through since she had been canvassed to do the ‘assignment’ given by her uncle and cousin sister. Police said the girl did not have external injuries and is suffering from acute pain in her private parts. “She had been raped by at least eight to 10 men a day,” said an official, who is part of the investigation.

Police said the main accused Madhan sent her to different brokers every week and the brokers invited their customers since they got a ‘fresh piece’.

 Disadvantaged background

The victim is one of the seven children of a 35-year-old mother, who works as a housemaid after her husband ditched her two years ago to marry another woman. Since the girl had attained puberty just three months ago, her mother, who lives in Perumbakkam, sent the girl to her niece Sahitha Banu in North Chennai as she thought that the area she lives in is not safe for her ‘prettylooking’ daughter.

However, little did she know then that her daughter would be put through unimaginable horror in such a short period by the people she trusted blindly. “The victim’s mother indeed had no idea her niece was into flesh trade and was under the impression Sahitha Banu lives well as she often dressed well,” said police.

It was Sahitha Banu’s second husband Madhan who first sexually assaulted the victim. Sahitha Banu allegedly asked the girl to ‘adjust’, after which the victim was convinced that what they have been doing is not bad.

Since the victim was a cash cow for Madhan, he refused to let go of her when the girl’s mother wanted to see her. But since she kept insisting, Sahitha Banu convinced Madhan to bring the girl from a broker and sent her to her mother.

Police arrested the entire family of Madhan including his mother, sister, the latter’s husband, apart from Sahitha Banu, and based on their inputs three more brokers were arrested by police and two women rescued from their custody.
