2 killed while returning after pilgrimage, 3 hurt

Two persons died and three other family members suffered injuries after the car in which they were returning after a religious trip met with an accident near Walajabad on Sunday night.

 Srinath (34) of Sai Nagar in Tambaram, working as a cashier in a private bank in the locality, were on a religious trip along with wife Aishwarya (29), two-year-old son Anandraj, father Rajan (65) and mother-inlaw Kanagam (55), since it was Deepavali holidays.

 On Sunday night they were on the way back when on Walajabad-Tambaram road at around 10 pm, Srinath lost control of the car which fell into a roadside pit. Police said Rajan and Kanagam who were on rear seat died on the spot and Srinath, Aishwarya and son escaped with injuries since there was an airbag in the front. The onlookers rushed them to Kancheepuram GH from where they were shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital.
