Medicos demand govt to reduce fee
The fees charged for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Raja Muthiah Medical College, Raja Muthiah Dental College and Erode Government Medical College should be reduced to the same level as that of State government’s medical colleges to help students from poorer families, urged government doctors’ associations and medical students.

Raja Muthiah Medical College is being run by the Tamil Nadu government since 2013. Functioning as Cuddalore Government Medical College, the seats there are filled by the Directorate of Medical Education through a single-window system. However, it is charging Rs 5.44 lakh as tuition fee.
Similarly, IRT Perundurai Medical College in Erode is also run by the government and is currently functioning as the Government Medical College, Erode. However, the tuition fee that it charges is Rs 3.85 lakh. Dr GR Ravindranath, secretary, Doctor’s Association for Social Equality, said it should be reduced on a par with all government medical colleges.
