In what looks like an unexpected turn of events in the case of VJ Chitra's death by suicide, police sources revealed that audio clips in the actress' mobile provided crucial information. Actress, TV host and VJ Chitra was found dead in a hotel room during the early hours of December 9. As many of her friends had claimed that Chitra was pressurized both by her mother and her husband Hemanth, the latest development hints at a possible physical and mental abuse by her husband.

According to police sources, a conversation between VJ Chitra and her father-in-law was found in her phone. In the audio, Chitra had said that Hemanth repeatedly objected to her playing intimate scenes with her co-artists of TV series 'Pandian Stores'. It was also revealed that heated arguments often arose between the couple. She shared an incident where Hemanth made her promise in public that she would not participate in reality shows that may have her on-screen pair from the series as her co-contestant.

Apparently, all these incidents happened before the couple registered their marriage. Post their marriage, Chitra was reportedly abused by Hemanth and he accused her of having illicit affairs.

Meanwhile, the recorded audio clips in Chitra's mobile were deleted by Hemanth. The cyber police retrieved all the deleted clips. Police sources also said Hemanth had an affair earlier, and Chitra's industry friends had also warned her regarding the same. Though the alleged relationship was said to have ended, police are planning to interrogate Chitra's industry colleagues.

In the meantime, Hemanth was produced before Sriperumbudur RDO for the pending inquiry. Sources said the RDO inquiry would reveal if Chitra had faced dowry harassment. Earlier, Chitra's mother had said that they had offered 50 sovereigns for Chitra and 20 sovereigns for Hemanth as marriage surety.

It is to be noted that questions were raised about her death soon after photos of her corpse surfaced online as there were marks on the body.

The actor shot to her fame for her role as Mullai in the soap opera 'Pandian Stores'.
