Books on medicinal plants, mining of minerals released
State Planning Commission released three books on medicinal plants, herbal medicine and mining of minerals on Tuesday.

These books were brought out to educate the public on topics like improving immunity against coronavirus and regulating mining of minerals in the State, said the vice chairman of the commission, C Ponnaiyan during the book release function held at the State Development Policy Council (SDPC) headquarters at Ezhilagam on Tuesday.
A press release said the book titled “Law relating to sustainable mining and Inclusive development: An overview” was authored by S Elumalai, assistant professor, School of Excellence in Law and BC Archana Kalyani, head of the land-use division, SDPC.
The second book “Mooligai Maruthuva Kaiyedu” was released by Anil Meshram, member secretary, SDPC, and was received by P Jeyaprakash Narayanan, former vice-principal, Government Siddha Medical College, Chennai, the release said.
The third book “Medicinal plants” was authored with inputs from herbal medicine practitioner Ve Nammazhvar of Agasthiyar Mooligai Avaiyagam, Madurai. This book explains how natural herbs and fruits that contain medicinal values that would help naturally cure diseases without any side effects. The book aims to create awareness among people on how natural herbs can help prevent coronavirus infection, the press release added.
The medicinal books also explain the dos and don’ts with the herbs and the importance of sunbath and aromatherapy using flowers and fruits, the release added.
