RPF constable attacked inside Perungudi MRTS, suspect held
A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable was brutally attacked with a machete inside Perungudi Mass Rapid Transport Station (MRTS) and railway police have arrested a 21-year-old man on Wednesday.

The victim Kamalakar Pandey (25) of Bihar, a constable with RPF, is undergoing treatment at Railway hospital in Ayanavaram for deep cut injuries on his hand, while the accused nabbed was identified as Sham (21) of Mattankuppam, Triplicane.
The incident happened in the wee hours of Sunday when Kamalakar was posted at Perungudi MRTS.
Upon hearing a noise in the bathroom in the railway station, Kamalakar went to check it and found a man washing his clothes.
When the constable questioned him, the man verbally abused him and attacked him with a machete.
Kamalakar, who suffered injuries on his hand, raised an alarm, but the attacker fled the scene. The constable was rushed to a nearby private hospital and was shifted to the railway hospital after first-aid. On information, Tiruvanmiyur railway police registered a case and arrested the suspect Sham.
Sources said the accused has been riding horses on Marina beach. He got drunk and fell into slush and went to the station when the incident happened. He was remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday.
