Tribute to water conservationist
As a tribute to Anupam Mishra’s life and journey, Akarmaa Foundation has come up with a table calendar with detachable postcards. “He has revived a lot of water systems in Rajasthan. A simple, down-to-earth person, Anupam sir worked with the local community members. He understood the local knowledge of water preservation and tried to incorporate and apply it. His life and work inspired us to publish the calendar. It is a postcard-cum-calendar. One side will have photographs of his life and work, and the backside will have the postcard template,” says Kaushik of Akarmaa Foundation.
Show some animal love
The Blue Cross of India has come up with a tabletop calendar to promote their shelter animals. “Artist Alamelu Annhamalai has volunteered to draw the animals at our shelter and created affordable pieces of art. She drew, designed and compiled the calendar series. Every animal has a unique feature and we wanted to bring out their unique characteristics through the calendar. For eg, we have a horse named Shaktiman. We named him so because he runs in rounds. The main idea behind our #ShelterStories series is to invite people to volunteer with us. This calendar project is a labour of love. Our calendar models carry art and soul, and even more,” says Vivek Venkatraman, a volunteer at The Blue Cross of India. The calendar can be purchased from their social media page.
Eco-friendly calendar
Amisha Vijay Vathare, who runs a craft venture Exploring Creations, has created eco-friendly calendars. “We have managed to make an eco-friendly calendar and a kit that include cotton cloth potlis, seed pencils, seed pens and calendars, etc. The calendar is made with seeds and paper mache. Once the month gets over you can plant the paper in the soil for some amazing saplings. Once the seed is sprouted, you can plant them separately. We have mentioned all the instructions in each calendar. The seeds that we have used are marigold, daisy, tulsi and tomato,” says Amisha.
