26-yr-old hacked to death by 8-member gang near Minjur
A 26-year-old man was hacked to death by an eight-member gang outside a Tasmac shop near Minjur on Sunday night.

The deceased, Rajasekar of Minjur, is an auto driver and often drives sewage tanker for livelihood. When he was standing outside a Tasmac shop in Ariyanvayal village, an eight-member gang surrounded him and hacked him with machetes before fleeing the spot.
Shocked passersby rescued Rajasekar and rushed him to Government Stanley Hospital. However, Rajasekar died without responding to treatment on Monday morning. Minjur police have registered a case and have secured seven suspects for interrogation. An official said Rajasekar was killed over a previous enmity as the accused fought with him on New Year’s Eve. The same people reached the Tasmac where Rajasekar was present and hacked him to death.
Siblings held for murder during New Year brawl
Meanwhile, Nungambakkam police arrested two siblings in connection with the murder of a 59-year-old man in a drunken brawl on New Year’s Eve. The accused Mustafa alias Murugesan (47) and his brother Palani (42) stabbed Abdul Kadhar in an argument under the influence of alcohol and fled the spot. They were remanded in judicial custody.
