Goondas Act slapped on PSBB teacher, commentator

G Rajagopalan, teacher of PSBB, KK Nagar, arrested for allegedly sexually harassing his students, and social media commentator Kishore K Swamy were booked under the Goondas Act — which will detain them in preventive custody for one year — on Friday.

Rajagopalan, a Commerce teacher with Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School in KK Nagar, was arrested under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act after current students and alumni of the school had taken to social media to share their allegations. Kishore Swamy is facing cases for defamatory remarks against DMK leaders including the Chief Minister, accusing journalist on religious line and making abusive remarks against women journalists. He was arrested on June 14 after DMK IT wing coordinator, Kancheepuram district, filed a complaint with the police in connection with Kishore’s tweet against the announcement by the DMK government to allow women priests to perform poojas in the temple.

On Thursday, the police had arrested Kishore K Swamy for the second time in a week, based on a 2019 complaint from a media person. Kishore was earlier arrested in October 2019 and July 2020 on the charges of harassing women journalists on social media
