Heavy rains lash Chennai suburbs
Several parts of Tamil Nadu received light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday night, which is likely to intensify to heavy rainfall in some places for the next 48 hours.
CHENNAI: Heavy rains lashed Chennai suburban areas, including a few areas in the city, on Thursday.
Several parts of Tamil Nadu received light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday night, which is likely to intensify to heavy rainfall in some places for the next 48 hours.
With the movement of westerly winds and cyclonic circulation formed near the coastal regions, Chennai is also expected to receive light showers and the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Thunderstorm with light to moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas.

The Nilgiris received highest rainfall of 7 cm on Wednesday, followed by Ranipet and Krishnagiri that recorded 6 cm of rainfall. Among other districts, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Erode, Namakkal and Coimbatore also received moderate rainfall at night.
On Thursday, light to moderate rain is expected at many places with isolated thunderstorm & lightning in Tamil Nadu, heavy rain is expected in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Namakkal, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, and delta districts, including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 35 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.
