Thanjavur man on lookout for 20 years nabbed at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: A 43-year-old man who was on the lookout by the Thanjavur police for the past 20 years was detained at the Chennai airport, when he arrived from Dubai on Wednesday.

Ravikumar (43) of Thanjavur has many theft cases pending against him. 20 years ago, when police were about to arrest Ravikumar he managed to escape abroad. Soon, the Superintendent of Police issued a look out notice to all the airports across the country. Ravikumar, who left India when he was 23 years old, returned to Chennai from Dubai on Wednesday morning on an Air India flight. Ravikumar thought that police might have forgotten his case since it has been 20 years, but at the airport, while the immigration officials scanned his documents they found that Ravikumar was on the wanted list for more than 20 years and has several theft cases in his name. Soon, immigration officials detained Ravikumar and informed the Tanjore Superintendent of Police. A special team of police arrived in Chennai on Wednesday night, arrested Ravikumar and took him to Thanjavur.
