Chennai police book Class 12 students over unruly behaviour

Two students of Class 12 used to go sit in 11 standard classrooms and disturb the Class by passing comments at the teachers.

CHENNAI: Losing patience over chronic troublesome behaviour by Class 12 students of a city government school in Thiruvottiyur, the school management filed a police complaint against three students, who were arrested and sent to a juvenile home.

Police sources said that they received a complaint about three Class 12 students, who have been creating a ruckus.

Two students of Class 12 used to go sit in 11 standard classrooms and disturb the Class by passing comments at the teachers.

“They were also indulging in indiscipline continuously, ” a police officer said. Another student is accused of instigating other students to be abusive and has been passing unsavoury comments at girl students.

“Other students are afraid that they would be beaten up by the unruly students and are attending school in fear, which has affected their concentration in studies too,” said a police officer citing the complaint from the school headmaster.

Last week, the students had locked up some teachers in the washroom after which the teachers lost their threshold and informed the school education department.

An investigation was conducted by the edcuation department officials, police said after which it was decided that a police complaint be filed against the students.

Based on a complaint by the school headmaster, Thiruvottiyur police had booked the students under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 294 (b) (uttering obscene words), 353 (deterring public servant from discharging duty), 506 (1) (criminal intimidation) and arrested them.

They were admitted to a government home for boys.
