CMDA suspends professionals for certifying violated buildings

Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019 empowers the authority to to take action against registered professionals for certifying misrepresentation or commit of violation.

CHENNAI: Acting tough against the registered professionals, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has suspended three engineers from practising after they allegedly certified violated buildings.

According the a planning authority statement, "The CMDA has initiated action against structural engineer, construction engineer and registered engineer and suspended their registration with CMDA. These professionals are prevented from practising their professiona for the next 12 months."

Tamil Nadu Combined Development and Building Rules, 2019 empowers the authority to to take action against registered professionals for certifying misrepresentation or commit of violation. Professionals are found to violate the rules by wrongly certifying a completion certificate application for a violated building as if completed as per completion certificate norms and as per plans, resulting into suspension.

The violated building is located in Dhandayuthapani Nagar in Kotturpuram.

Meanwhile, CMDA started conducting training on 'drawing scrutiny/preDCR scrutiny' on every Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
