Aquarium reopened for visitors at Vandalur zoo
There are 28 types, including angel fish, black ghost, electric yellow lab, glass fish, giant catfish, oscar fish, tiger barb, rykin gold fish, neon tetra, and zebra danio.
CHENNAI: Almost after two years of pandemic induced lockdown, the Aquarium at Arignar Anna Zoological Park (Vandalur zoo) reopened for visitors on Saturday. An official stated that new marine fishes will be added soon.
"The zoo was reopened on August 25, 2021, but the aquarium was closed temporarily due to Covid-imposed lockdown. Subsequently renovation work was carried out during the period," said R Kanchana, deputy director, Vandalur zoo.
As part of the maintenance work, the zoo management has added new elements to the fish tanks, including vegetation, airstones and paintings of fish varieties at the aquarium. There are 28 types, including angel fish, black ghost, electric yellow lab, glass fish, giant catfish, oscar fish, tiger barb, rykin gold fish, neon tetra, and zebra danio.
"We received a good number of visitors on the first day after the aquarium was reopened. As many were not aware of it, we expected a larger crowd from tomorrow. And, we are planning to add new marine fishes to the aquarium soon," said the official.
