College student stabbed to death by younger brother

CHENNAI: A 22-year-old college student who confronted his younger brother for arguing with his mother was allegedly stabbed to death by the latter at their residence in neighbouring Kancheepuram district on Saturday night.

The deceased, P Vincent was pursuing final year zoology course in Pachaiyappa’s college for men in Kancheepuram. Police said that Vincent was living with his mother, Selvarani, a head mistress in a private school and a younger brother, a class 12 student at an aided school in the district.

The boys’ father, Prabhudoss, a teacher died two years ago, police said. Police investigations revealed that the minor boy was addicted to ganja after the death of his father, which started creating troubles in the family.

On Saturday night, the teen had demanded money from his mother which she had refused. “Vincent who was witnessing the confrontation between his mother and his brother intervened and chided his brother, ” a police officer said.

The argument between the brothers turned into a brawl and in a fit of rage, the youngster, took a kitchen knife and stabbed Vincent.

The mother raised an alarm after which neighbours rushed to the rescue and took Vincent to a hospital nearby, where he was declared brought dead.

Kanchi Taluk police secured the body on information and sent it to the Kancheepuram government hospital for autopsy. On Sunday morning, a police team picked up the muinor boy from his friend’s house and booked him on murder charges. He was produced before the juvenile justice board and sent to a government observation home for boys.
