CS Iraianbu inspects Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust project works

Under the CRRT, the government has approved Rs. 123 Crore to prevent sewage inflow into Adyar River. Under the initiative, five works have been completed and trail runs are ongoing in two sewage treatment plants.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief secretary V Irai Anbu, on Sunday, inspected various works, which are being carried out in the city under Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust (CRRT) project.

During the inspection, the chief secretary inspected works along Adyar, Cooum, Buckingham Canal, and Ennore Creek. The works are being carried out at Rs. 2,371 Crore. "Apart from this, he inspected construction of modular sewage treatment plants in Tholkappia Poonga and Saidapet. He inspected storm water drain construction in T Nagar, Kodambakkam and other places, " a release said.

Under the CRRT, the government has approved Rs. 123 Crore to prevent sewage inflow into Adyar River. Under the initiative, five works have been completed and trail runs are ongoing in two sewage treatment plants.

Also, a sewage treatment plant is under construction in Saidapet to prevent sewage inflow into the Mambalam Canal. About 98 per cent of the works have been completed. During the inspection, Irai Anbu instructed the officials to complete all the works immediately.
