Sand mining: Lorry driver murdered near Chennai
Recently the tender for sand mining in the Keerapakkam lake was given to a private firm and the lorry driver Suresh Babu went for sand mining with his lorry.
CHENNAI: Police arrested three men who murdered a lorry driver in a quarrel in Keerapakkam on Monday.
Police said the deceased Suresh Babu (28) of Nanmangalam in Vandalur was a lorry driver. Recently the tender for sand mining in the Keerapakkam lake was given to a private firm and the lorry driver Suresh Babu went for sand mining with his lorry.
Police said during that time a quarrel broke out between a local villager and Suresh Babu. Following that, on Sunday night Suresh Babu went to a liquor shop in Melakottaiyur and during that time a group of men who came in two autos started to attack Suresh Babu.
Police said Suresh Babu called his brother immediately over the phone and sought help soon the gang snatched his mobile phone and hacked him to death.
The Thazhambur police team that visited the spot retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem and the police registered a case and arrested three men linked to the murder and search is on to nab the main suspects who are missing.
Suresh Babu was married to Meena, and the couple has a one-year-old daughter.
