School girl hurt falling from emergency window of the school bus

When nearing Parvathy Nagar in Mudichur the emergency window came off and the 7-year-old girl student Riyona who was seated near the window fell on the road and suffered severe injuries. Police s said seven teeth were broken.

CHENNAI: A class-2 girl was injured after falling from school bus after the emergency window of the vehicle came off in Tambaram on Thursday.

The school bus belonged to the Ravindra Barathi school situated in Mudichur. On Thursday morning the school bus from Old Perungalathur picked up 31 students and was on the way to school.

When nearing Parvathy Nagar in Mudichur the emergency window came off and the 7-year-old girl student Riyona who was seated near the window fell on the road and suffered severe injuries. Police s said seven teeth were broken.

The onlookers rushed the girl to the nearby private hospital and were admitted to ICU. The bus driver Venkat Raman, while trying to escape from the scene, was caught by the public and was handed over to the police.

The Peerkankaranai police registered a case and said lack of maintenance was the reason for the window to came off. It is noted that a few years ago a girl died after falling from a private school bus through a hole on the floor of vehicle on Mudichur Road.
