4 teachers penalised for handing corporal punishment to student

ANANI: Two teachers of the Government Boys Higher Secondary School were suspended and another two were transferred for their part in handing out corporal punishment to a Plus One student on Friday. The issue started when some girl students complained to teachers that the student Boopathy, son of Prabakaran, blew cigarette smoke on them. The teachers called Boopathy and subjected him to corporeal punishment resulting in the boy’s parents and relatives besieging the school. Tiruvannamalai district CEO Ganesamurthy and DEO Santosh visited the school for an enquiry and based on their findings, the CEO ordered the suspension of teachers Venketraman and Dilip Kumar while teachers Nityanandam and Pandian were transferred with immediate effect.
