Ottivakkam panchayat president in soup over fake job letter

CHENNAI: Police have registered a case against the Ottivakkam panchayat president who allegedly cheated a woman by issuing a fake job confirmation letter to work as teaching faculty in the government school in their village after collecting Rs 6 lakh from her.

Police said T Amala of Pon Vilaintha Kalathur who has finished her teacher's training, was searching for a job. The Ottivakkam village panchayat president Arun Kumar, who also holds a post in the youth wing of the AIADMK party, promised Amala that he would get her a job in the government school and asked her to pay Rs 6 lakh last year.

Police said within a few weeks Arun Kumar issued an appointment letter to Amala and told her that she was posted in a government school in Pon Valaith Kalathur village. Arun also told Amala to only join on duty after his order.

Since Arun Kumar was not giving a proper response about the joining date even after a year, Amala a few days ago visited the school and showed her appointment letter to the principal. The principal found that it was a fake appointment letter and told them that she was cheated by the panchayat president. On Tuesday, Amala filed a petition in the Chengalpattu SP office to take action against the panchayat president Arun Kumar. The complaint was forwarded to the district crime branch police and the police are investigating the case.
