Gangster shot near Tambaram, nabbed

The police received a piece of information that history-sheeters Lenin (24) and Sachin (22) of Erumaiyur, who have murder cases pending against them, are hiding in the forest area near a private college in Poonthandalam village in Tambaram.

CHENNAI: A 22-year-old history-sheeter, who tried to escape after attacking the police, was caught after police shot him in Tambaram, near here, on Wednesday early morning.

The police received a piece of information that history-sheeters Lenin (24) and Sachin (22) of Erumaiyur, who have murder cases pending against them, are hiding in the forest area near a private college in Poonthandalam village in Tambaram.

The Somangalam police Inspector Sivakumar and team went to the spot and after noticing the police both of them started to run from the spot. Police said they had knives with them and when constable Baskaran tried to arrest Sachin he attacked the constable with a knife and started to run. Soon, Inspector Sivakumar took his pistol and shot Sachin on his right leg and arrested him. The police admitted the injured constable Baskaran and Sachin to the Chromepet GH and the case has been registered and a search is on to nab Lenin who is missing.
