Thousand Lights MLA submits 500-day work report to Stalin

As many as 174 page report is more a diary in which the MLA has registered the events in a chronological manner starting from the date on which he won the election.

CHENNAI: Thousand Lights MLA Dr N Ezhilan became the first legislator in the State to prepare a complete list of works that has carried out in his constituency and to submit it as a report to Chief Minister MK Stalin.

As many as 174 page report is more a diary in which the MLA has registered the events in a chronological manner starting from the date on which he won the election.

"Thousand Lights constituency is a pet constituency of the Chief Minister and he knows every street and every party functionary in the constituency which has inspired me to pour in more efforts. I wanted to record every single work that is carried out in the constituency which had resulted in bringing out the report. I will continue to work tirelessly for the people and will record every single event in my constituency." Ezhilan told DT Next

Thousand Lights is a historical constituency where the first free breakfast scheme was introduced by then Chennai Mayor Sir Pitti Thiagarayar in a corporation school in 1920s. It also houses some of the key buildings associated with DMK and with Tamil such as the Gopalapuram house of late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Anna Arivalayam, the headquarters of DMK, the office of 'Murasoli', Vallurvarkottam and so on.

MLA of such a historical constituency, Ezhilan has classified the works carried out in his constituency such as Covid-19 works, field inspections, works carried out in MLA office, government functions, advisory meetings, monsoon works, distribution of welfare measures, works for local body election, training for DMK cadres, solution to long-pending issues in the constituency and so on.

Ezhilan, being a doctor himself, started his report with the works done during the two waves of Covid. "When we took over the government, the second wave of was at its peak. We established Covid care centres, gave training to health workers, carried out inspections, set up vaccination camps, distributed protective suits and so on. All these works were documented in a detailed manner," said Ezhilan.

In the list of providing solutions for long pending issues, Ezhilan has pointed out to providing electricity connections for people living in slums in Nehru Nagar, provided water supply to two health centres which did not have water supply for long, laid new water pipes in Pushpa Nagar and near Anna Arivalayam and so on.
