Litigant moves HC for action against A Raja

CHENNAI: A Chennai-based litigant has moved the Madras High Court for a direction to the city police to take an action against DMK deputy general secretary A Raja for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Hindus.

The petitioner named PA Joseph filed the petition saying that he filed a complaint against the DMK leader with the Vepery Police Station but no action was taken for his 'provocative speech.’

In his affidavit, Joseph stated that while attending a function at Periyar Thidal in Vepery on September 6, Raja made a speech in a way hurting the Hindus' sentiments.

"Raja's speech had created unnecessary enmity between the Hindu religion and caused a communal imbalance in the state which culminated into law and order problem,” he stated.

He further added that since Raja belongs to the ruling political dispensation, police have not considered the representation made by the former.

"Most of our political parties and their leaders violate Article-I9 of the Indian constitution and create problems and confusion between the peoples by their hate speech and India's democracy and secularism are being questioned. Similarly, Political parties and their leaders do without considering the unity of people and they concentrate only on how to harvest votes from people by diversionary Caste, Religion, State and Race, and also violate the principles and guidelines of the Peoples Representation Act, " the petitioner noted.
