CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Thursday left for New Delhi. The sudden travel of the Governor to the national capital has spiced up the political undercurrent of the State amidst the growing demand from the ruling party and its allies for his removal.

The Governor along with his secretary and security officer took the flight from Chennai airport at about 11.10 am and is expected to return to Chennai on Friday night. The reason that warranted the Governor’s sudden trip to Delhi remains unclear. However, the timing of this travel adds spice to the political developments in the last couple of days as the DMK party and its allies have upped the ante against the Governor.

The DMK party gave a clarion call to the allies and like-minded parties to sign the memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu, about the immediate withdrawal of the Governor.

The DMK mouthpiece Murasoli continued its onslaught on the Governor for his speech against his constitutional position, while leaders of the DMK allies slammed the Governor for his speech regarding the Coimbatore Car blast and praising Santana Dharam. They aired their view that Ravi should resign from the Governor's post before speaking anything to please the BJP and its leaders.
