EPS, OPS, Sasikala and TTV pay tribute to MGR on his 35th memorial day

35th death anniversary of AIADMK founder and former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran was observed on Saturday

CHENNAI: Leaders of various factions of the prime opposition, AIADMK, have paid tribute to the party founder and former chief minister M G Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR, on his 35th memorial day. Besides this, leader of AMMK TTV Dhinakaran along with his party functionaries paid tribute to the former CM at his memorial in Marina.

Edappadi K Palaniswami along with his supporters including senior party leaders Dindigal Srinivasan, C Ponnaiyan, K A Sengaottaiyan, S Semmalai and K P Munusamy, who were clad in black shirts, converged at MGR memorial along the Marina Beach to pay homage to the leader.

On the occasion, they raised slogans hailing the party founder and took oath to uphold the legacy, besides follow the footsteps to end the dynastic politics of DMK. They pledged to win all the 40 seats in the Lok Sabha polls to create a new history.

They vouched not to stray away from the principles laid down by the founding leader and march towards the goal. They have also raised slogans against the DMK government for not fulfilling its poll promises and said that they would expose the incompetent government's failures.

Interestingly, the EPS team avoided broaching upon the topic of factionalisms and internal party disputes.

Ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam along with his supporters reached the memorial after EPS team left to pay their tribute to the former CM.

OPS, in his social media post, hailed the party founder and said he launched immortal schemes and earned the love of the common man. He earned the respect of the party cadres by his policy that the cadres should choose the party leadership. "Until the last breath, we should follow the principle of the party founder, " said OPS with an alluding message to the party cadres and his rival faction led by EPS.

Dhinakaran and his party functionaries have also paid tribute to the memorial of MGR, while former AIADMK leader V K Sasikala and her supporters also paid homage to the former CM at his memorial.
