NIFT students compile a report by collecting 100 trends across the globe

One of the students, Abhishek Pal, says, “Though we are fashion management students, all these topics are inter-related. The primary reason for making this report is that, once the lockdown gets over, most of the industries will be wondering how to move ahead. There will be a lot of confusion and chaos on what’s next and how to go about it. Since all the students are at their respective homes, we thought of utilising the time we have. So, we all came together and developed this report. This is the first-ever such report published by a group of youth in India.”

Students agree that it was not an easy task amid lockdown as they worked remotely across India to scout more than 100 trends to develop this report. “We made teams and segregated the work. If one of the teams completes their assigned work early, they helped the other teams. Moreover, what’s amazing about this project is that we learned a lot of new things while researching. We hope that this report would help the four major industries — environment, technology, fashion and health – to march forward successfully in the coming years,” Sharanya Dey, another student pitches in.

Dr Kaustav Sengupta, associate professor, who guided the students opines that once everything is back to normal, all the industries would pace up to their full potential. “The process would be much easier if industry experts, be it fashion or technology, have the idea of what happened across the globe and what is going to happen next,” he says.
