The star of the Lean On Mashup, has released yet another cover. But this one blows all the others out of the water. The mash-up of original lyrics composed by her and Shankar Tucker, is going to capture your vocal cords and make you hum in the shower. The video is a perfect blend of modernity, traditional tunes and costumes. It is a seamless concoction of the incessant idea of belonging vis-à-vis a sense of rootlessness in a foreign land. The lyrics also blend in perfectly, so much so that one sometimes can’t make out the difference between two distinct languages Malayalam and English. With its delightful blend of the East and West, songs such as this one are not only lovely to listen to, but can also do their bit to popularise and keep alive India’s rich, vibrant folk culture.
