The artiste, who also dabbles in electronic fusion, uploaded a version of the Ramin Djawadi-composed GoT theme, on YouTube recently, and the video went viral as the popular TV series premiered its sixth season on April 25. Deshmukh uses 10 tablas tuned to different notes to reproduce the desired effect of the famously haunting song. Utilising nine dayans (the main drum, usually played by one’s dominant hand) and one bayan (the low-pitched drum), Deshmukh uses a version of what is generally known as a tabla tarang to play the familiar theme effortlessly, without missing a beat. This is one you need to hear (and see), to believe. Plus, in case you haven’t seen the first episode of Season 6 yet, at least this is spoiler free!
