Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrated with religious fervour in Tamil Nadu
Thousands of devotees thronged the Ganesha temples at Pillayarpatti in Sivaganga and Tiruchirappalli city to offer special prayers to the presiding deity on occasion of the Ganesha Chaturthi.

The Ten day Ganesha festival at Pillayarpatti temple ended with purification ceremony. A 75 kg "Kozhukattai" was offered to lord Vinayaka at Rock Fort temple in Tiruchirappalli.
In Madurai a kozhukattai made from 18 measures of rice and jaggery was offered to Mukkurini Ganesha at Sri Meenakshi temple in Madurai.
Various organizations had put up Vinayaka idols on the roadside as part of Chaturthi festival.
Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations in Puducherry
People thronged the premises of the more than 350-year-old Manakula Vinayakar temple in the heart of the town from early morning to offer worship to deities in the temple.
Chief Minister of Puducherry V Narayanasamy and Tamil Nadu Industries Minister M C Sampath were among those who worshipped at the temple.
Special abishegams were performed to the presiding deity. Police were deployed in strength to regulate the crowd. Clay models of Lord Ganesh were selling like hot cakes at various points.
