Small nooks and crannies don’t get paid any attention to and parts of the home go bare. But with these ideas you can actually create magic. Here are a few ways to deck up the window sill.
Space for bookworms: For all book-lovers, the ledge is a perfect place to keep your precious books. It is especially useful if you do not want to add on a huge book shelf to the existing furniture. The ledge can be your small cosy reading corner. Add a beautiful lamp shade with a high voltage bulb and some pillows for comfort and ease and maybe even a light for some evening skimming. You can also keep a notebook or two and some pens to jot down your favourite bits.
Green revolution: Have a green thumb and looking for a place to put your lovely plants? The window ledge that opens into the balcony might be the right choice. Use pretty pots, planters and canisters for the plants. The mason jars and tea cans for plants are also in vogue and will add a whole new dimension to the space. Among plants choose bright flowers, kitchen herbs to create this natural beauty spot for your home.
Quirk and artsy factor: You might not actually be a sorted personality but have an eye for picking up eclectic stuff from stores and trips across globe. Say an African mask, Pokemon pen stand, a miniature tea set from China or beautiful shells picked up from Maldives beaches – you have them all and don’t know what to do with them. It’s easy, just pick the wide window ledge and place these stuff. Form a mish-mash of beautiful, wonderful things that represent you and just personalise your space.
Romantic corner: Thinking of a way to please your partner after he comes back from a long day at work! While you might prepare his favourite meal to make him happy, how about creating some ambience and cheering him up with aroma candles, flowers and more. No space in your bedroom, how about the wide window sill. Got the drift? Mood becomes instantly romantic by adding some candles and lighting them in the evening. More light will come through and the glow will be perfect for a relaxing evening or a rainy day.
Study and storage space: In case you have an unused window sill in your home office or study, use it as storage! Don’t let the space go to waste. Add folders, boxes or penstands and more to dress up the window and utilise the room for your own sanity and organization!
