Katrina Kaif wins Smita Patil Award, social media bursts into laughter

However, it is undeniable that she is known for her relationships and beauty more than her body of work, and precisely why the Internet exploded with jokes when she was recently honoured with the Smita Patil Memorial Award for her ‘contribution’ to cinema.

 While some said Katrina would be busy googling who the legendary Smita Patil was, there were others who said Sajid Khan winning an Oscar too was a possibility now after this fiasco. There were also many who called this honour an outright insult to the deceased actress’ exceptional talent. Some were still trying to find sense in the world. 

While one user wrote, “The people who decided to give the Smita Patil award to Katrina Kaif must be smacked in the face. Is there no sense left in this world?” another said, “Smita Patil will wake up from the grave n attack the ones who are awarding it to Katrina n ruining her name ha ha.” 

The prestigious award is named after Smita Patil, a powerhouse actress who has two national awards, a filmfare award and a Padma Shri to her credit.
