Healthy brain for wellness

Today everyone is aware of the need to take care of their health and many in all sincerity take efforts to maintain health. But to maintain health, one should enhance the strength of the brain.

Of all ailments that affect a human being, people know least of those affecting the brain and nervous system. It could be disorders like Schizophrenia, psychosis and neurosis dealing with the behaviour pattern where even a physically healthy person is disconnected from reality. Or they could be Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, paralysis or epilepsy that affect the nervous system and impair the body and movement.  

Irrespective of being psychometric or psychosomatic; these disorders are caused because of inadequate neurotransmitters or bio-chemicals within the brain and body. All chemicals required by the body for its proper function are generated and controlled by the brain. The body’s requirement is informed to the brain and its instructions are carried to the body through these special messengers; neurotransmitters or brain chemicals. 

Understand that the body does not exist in isolation; it is a brain instructed body. It is the health of the brain that decides the health and functionality of the body. You will wonder what the brain has to do with spirituality. Let me explain. 

Everything needs energy from a source; Earth energy is obtained from food, water energy from water, air energy from Oxygen, fire energy from the Sun and space energy from sleep and meditation. These energies can be disturbed; e.g. earth energy can be disturbed with improper food. Similarly, unwanted thoughts disturb existing Space energy affecting the brain. Once the brain is affected this cascades to the neurotransmitters and eventually affects the body. 

Can a thought make such a difference? It can! It can make a miraculous or disastrous difference! To make sure you only experience a miraculous difference you need to know the self. And spirituality is the process of knowing the self. Once you know the self you will relieve yourself of self-doubt, self-hatred and self-denial and revive a life full of self-love, self-trust and finally the highest state of human experience self-realisation. This state can only be reached through meditation. 

This is the reason one needs to start practicing the science of meditation, not just for a healthy body and brain; it is the only way to reach the self and be the self. Aham Brahmasmi!!
