Video of Archaeologists opening a 2500-year-old mummy coffin goes viral

At least 59 sarcophagi, with mummies inside, were found earlier this year during an excavation in Saqqara, which is situated to the south of Cairo.

Archaeologists in Egypt cracked open the coffin of an ancient mummy in front of a live audience on Saturday. The video of them opening one of the coffins went viral in the internet.

According to agency reports, the mummies were found earlier this year during an excavation in Saqqara, which is situated to the south of Cairo. Also, the wooden sarcophagus contained a mummy of a deceased priest who was wrapped in an “ornate burial cloth” which had been decorated to resemble the deceased’s face.

The 20-second video has amassed 20 million views on Twitter already.
